cool men
new story and Mishima
I have a new story ‘Glamour Dish’ in Another Man magazine as a collaboration between Fitzcarraldo Editions and the mag on writing about masculinity. I highly recommend purchasing a copy because there is a spread on Pasolini including a photo of him reading nude in a medieval stone bedroom. This I shall cut out and frame. Perfect for putting in the lav.
On Nov 25th Paul Schrader’s Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters is screening at St Vincent’s chapel in Edinburgh. Disappointing but not surprising no cinemas picking it up here (was recently restored ). November 25th is the anniversary of Mishima’s suicide, 55 years ago now. In somewhere as perpetually uncool and twee as Edinburgh this will certainly be a cool event, and a gorgeous Georgian church does seem appropriate. Tickets here. I will be there of course! Should I wear my Mishima shirt and bring along the news magazine from Nov 1970 I bought in Tokyo about his death? I will be no doubt showing it off in st Vincent’s pub for afters. Interestingly the film is also being shown in Japan for the first time. Walking around Tokyo listening to the Philip Glass soundtrack to the film while sipping cold vending machine green tea (no sugar) was a highlight of my existence.
I am going to go for a swim then buy a copy of John Henry Newman’s autobiography today.

That soundtrack/quartet is some of Glass's best work. Did you see Peter Thiel, Prince of Darkness, was quoting Newman in his recent crypto-bro series of lectures on the Antichrist? What a world.
I bought the magazine! Looking forward to reading the story and, most likely, improving my taste in clothes.
