I am procrastinating on writing by gardening, after making myself do it for happiness despite being a renter, a mix of Voltaire and Olivia Laing’s The Garden Against time have encouraged me, along with my love of insects. It’s a shady place so lots of ferns and hostas. I saw an enormous moth in my little garden yesterday evening and was very pleased, and i don’t mind snails and slugs, in fact I adore them- I’ve never seen such big slugs as I have here, orange black and toffee coloured like a halloween candy selection.
Your events list is such a treat to read. I think I might make a map of your travels around. Snails and slugs - yes I used to be very cruel to them. But once, when I was travelling in the south of France, I met a man (older) in a park who I had a conversation with, and he was about to step on a snail when I said, "Don't! She might have children." He thought this was the funniest thing he'd ever heard and invited me to go to Paris with him. I declined.
Hi Camilla
I will be in County Cork during the last two weeks of September. Do you know where you will be and when, so we might be able to connect?
